As Words Grow Wild

This is an excerpt from a book currently being written by Rick Jewett and Dr. Bill Fix,

The Bad Taste of Foul Language

When the Light Fails

When we flip the light switch, we expect the light to go on. If, for some reason, the light does not come on, we could change the lightbulb or figure out what was wrong. Another less constructive thing we could do is get angry and curse because something did not work as anticipated. We always want quick and pleasing results, and when they do not turn out that way, we have a choice of how we will respond. After all, pleasing results are not always possible. We can choose to be a problem solver or problem maker. If we can react in a way that fixes the problem, that would be a good response. But, if we become angry and our language and actions go south, the problem usually gets elevated to the next level.

Here is what I know to be true:

“Cursing Never Lights Up a Room.”
